Riedau

Riedau is a market town in Upper Austria in Schärding district in Innviertel with 1998 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district Schärding.

Geography

Riedau is located on 376 m altitude in Innviertel. The expansion is 2.9 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 4.6 km. The total area is 7.7 km ². 13 % of the area is forested, 71.4 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

The place was a long time Austrian border town to the neighboring Bavaria. For this reason, he was also charged in 1515 by Emperor Maximilian I to the market. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.
