The Rienz (Italian: Rienza ) is a river in South Tyrol, Italy. It rises at the foot of the Three Peaks in the municipality of Toblach, at an altitude of 2,180 m. Then it flows through the cave stone in a northerly and westerly direction in the Val Pusteria in part impressive gorges to after 80.9 km at an altitude of 550 m above sea level to open at Brixen in the Eisack. Due to the large catchment area of about 2143 km ², it is the most important water feeder of the Eisack.
The Rienz today is used almost continuously through diversions and dams constructed for the electrical industry, characterized and provide due to extensive obstruction and its hazardous to the 20th century floods now no longer a problem
