Rieps
Rieps is a municipality in the western part of the North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Rehna based in the same city.
Geography
The community Rieps located 15 kilometers southeast of Lubeck in a gently hilly area (up to 59 m above sea level. NN ) between the river and the Maurine Lake Ratzeburg. The agriculture dominant area around Rieps bordered on the north of the biosphere reserve Schaalsee.
To Rieps include the districts Cronskamp, Raddingsdorf and Wendorf.
History
The 1158 first mentioned as Ripze place is one of the oldest in North West Mecklenburg. Rieps was about five kilometers (air distance) from the former inner German border, but did not belong to the restricted area.

Transport links
The community is about five kilometers from the motorway Luedersdorf ( Federal Highway 20) removed. The important link road from Schönberg to Lauenburgische Ratzeburg runs through Rieps. The nearest railway station is at ten kilometers to the north town of Schönberg ( route Lübeck - Wismar ).
