Riezlern

Riezlern is a place in Kleinwalsertal in Vorarlberg as well as municipal seat and town in the municipality of Mittelberg in the district of Bregenz.

Geography

The place is located 37 km south of Bregenz, 23 kilometers south of Immenstadt and 44 km north- west of Imst heart of the Allgäu Alps, between the Northwest Großwalsertaler mountains and the Southeastern Großwalsertaler mountains.

History

In the great escape from Tannberg around 1300 some emigrated Walser families settled from the Valais. They called their settlement to the Rützlern, from which the present name was Riezlern.
