Riku Hahl

Riku Hahl ( born November 1, 1980 in Hämeenlinna ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player on the position of the center, which is since May 2011 with Jokerit in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Riku Hahl was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1999 in the sixth round of a total of 183 position of the Colorado Avalanche, but the Finn played two more seasons with his hometown club HPK Hämeenlinna in the Finnish SM- liiga. His debut in the National Hockey League gave Riku Hahl in the 2001/ 02 season. The majority of the playtime spent the attacker, however, at the farm team of the avalanche, the. Hahl remained after the season in Europe, although he got a contract offer from the Avalanche. He signed with the Swiss club HC Davos a one-year contract. After that he went to Sweden and played two seasons for long Timrå IK in the Elitserien. On 10 July 2008, the striker signed a contract with Frölunda HC. In his first year with the team from Gothenburg it failed only in the semifinals of the 2008/09 season at HV 71 Jönköping. On 25 February 2009, the striker extended his expiring contract with Frölunda for another year. In May 2011, the Finn returned to his homeland and signed a contract with Jokerit of the SM- liiga.

Internationally

The strong defensive center so far played a total of seven international tournaments for Finland. He won the bronze medal respectively at the 2006 World Championships and 2008. At the World Cup of Hockey in 2004, he took his team to second place.
