Rin Tin Tin

Rin Tin Tin " Rinty " ( born September 10, 1918 in Lorraine, † August 10 1932 in Los Angeles ) was a German Shepherd, which was made with 26 films in the 1920s to stardom.

Life

Rin Tin Tin was one of two surviving puppies that were brought against the end of World War II by the U.S. soldier Lee Duncan of France to Los Angeles. The dog was discovered by producer Darryl F. Zanuck in a circus show and committed to a smaller film role, in which he wanted to try his new film camera. A Warner Brothers film crew became aware of the dog for a scene in which a wolf should act, stepped in and completed the scene in one take. Warner Brothers was so impressed by Rin Tin Tin, that they hired him for the film Man From Hell's River, which was an overwhelming success. As one of the earliest movies with Rin Tin Tin applies the FBO production My Dad (1922 ). 1926 " deserved " Rin Tin Tin $ 6,000 per week.

After 26 films shot and his own radio show, " The Wonder Dog " (The Wonderdog, 1930, which was indeed produced before a live audience, in which he was but a part of the radio listeners only when barking ), died Rin Tin Tin 13 -year-old in 1932 Los Angeles in the presence of the actress Jean Harlow. He was buried in his native France at the dog cemetery in Asnières- sur -Seine. The grave inscription reads: RIN TIN · · TIN LA GRANDE DU CINEMA VEDETTE.

Rin Tin Tin received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 1625 Vine Street address.

His successors were " Rin Tin Tin Jr." which was used from 1932 to 1939 in 13 movies, and " Rin Tin Tin III ," which appeared in a movie ever only in 1939 and 1947.

1935 also had Rin Tin Tin Jr. his own 12-piece Serial, but had to share the glory with Rex, the Wonder Horse in The Adventures of Rex and Rinty directed by Ford Beebe and B. Reeves Eason, who also wrote the story. The series was shot in black and white, lobby cards, as it was not uncommon, but also in color produced.

The television series The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin was a German Shepherd named new Golden Boy junior, called JR, rotated 1954-1959 in the U.S.. JR, who no longer came from the Duncan - breeding, but the coach Frank Barnes was one, received in 1958 and 1959, the Patsy Award. In dangerous scenes however, he was doubled for Stunt Dogs. Overall, it brought the series to 164 episodes. She told the story of the little boy Rusty and his friend, the shepherd dog Rin Tin Tin, in the turmoil of the Wild West to, 1888.

The series was filmed on the set of John Ford Western " To the last man " (Fort Apache, 1948) and on 35 mm motion picture film material.

Rin Tin Tin was the first American series that was shown on German television. The first episode was aired on February 16, 1956 at 21:25 Clock of the ARD. There were only sent 20 episodes until 1964.

Apart from the successful television series, there were also books and comics of the topic Rin Tin Tin assumptions themselves.

1976 an attempt was made to upgrade the old adventure series by newly rotated scenes. Supposedly a descendant of the first Rin Tin Tin was used here with Rin Tin Tin VII again. The attempt, however, was not a success.

Between 1988 and 1991, the television series Katts and Dog was filmed in Canada. The name Rin Tin Tin K-9 Cop was changed for the U.S. market. This was around the story of the policeman Hank Katt and his dog Rudy. This name has also been modified for the U.S. in Rinty. Under the German title two like cat and dog, the series was broadcast on RTL.

A planned 1999 series titled The New Adventures of Rin Tin Tin was not realized.
