Rina Ketty

Rina Ketty ( born March 1, 1911 in Turin, † December 16, 1996 in Cannes, actually Cesarina Picchetto ) was a French chanson singer of Italian origin.

Rina Ketty came to Paris in the thirties. 1938 and 1939 she managed the titles Sombreros et Mantilles and J'attendrai ( Eng.: "I'll wait " ), the Italian composer Dino Olivieri, two great successes. Although these songs were very popular during World War II, she failed to follow up these successes by 1945.

In 1954 she moved to Canada, but returned in 1965 to France. But this time it was denied a comeback. In 1991 she received from Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Her husband Jo Harman died in 1994.

Among the new interpreters of their songs also included Mari Trini and Dalida. The title J'attendrai was used " The Boot" ( 1981), in the radio play Arc de Triomphe on the book by Erich Maria Remarque, and in the film Saving Private Ryan (1998 ) in the German anti-war film. The title was announced in 2005 by the use in a commercial of the French carmaker Renault again.
