Rinchen Barsbold

Rinchen bars Bold (Mongolian Ринченгийн Барсболд, Rintschengiin bars Bold; * 1935 in Ulaanbaatar ) is a leading Mongolian vertebrate paleontologist. He has worked at the Institute of Geology in Ulaanbaatar.

Bold bars was instrumental in extensive dinosaur finds in the Gobi desert, some with Soviet and Polish scientists. The Gobi Desert is known for the finds of Roy Chapman Andrews in the 1930s as a dinosaur discovery site. Bold bars is particularly expert on carnivorous dinosaurs, which he received his doctorate, and especially Ornithomimidae. He pointed out early in the 1980s in a variety of bird characteristics of predatory dinosaurs of Mongolia and advocated a lineage of birds of such dinosaurs, which later by the discovery of feathered dinosaurs in the 1990s in the West received ( Philip Currie ) support.

In 1994 he was one of those who identified an Oviraptor nest, which gave reason to believe this would serve as hatched birds

According to him, the hadrosaur Barsboldia and the egg consuming Rinchenia dinosaurs are named.

He described among other things the Ornithomimidae genera Gallimimus, Garudimimus, Anserimimus, the Enigmosaurus, Conchoraptor, Adasaurus, Harpymimus, Ingenia, the family Oviraptoridae.
