Rinconada, Jujuy

Rinconada is the capital of the departments Rinconada in the Province of Jujuy in the far north-west Argentina. It lies in the Puna at an altitude of 3953 meters and is the highest town in Argentina with its own administration. Rinconada can be reached via the Ruta Provincial 7, which branches off four kilometers north of Abra Pampa of the Ruta Nacional 9. The distance from the junction to Rinconada is 62 kilometers.

The total population of the municipality comprises 1352 inhabitants, of which only 353 inhabitants live in the town center. Compared to the 1991 census, the census showed a population decline from 2001 to 21.67 percent.

Rinconada has a church called Iglesia de San José. Located near Rinconada is located 150 km ² lake Laguna de los Pozuelos.
