Ringer's solution

Ringer's solution, in the Anglo-American and Locke - Ringer's solution is an aqueous infusion solution and is used in isotonic dehydration ( dehydration ) as fluid replacement in extracellular fluid loss. It also serves as a carrier solution for electrolytic concentrates or certain drugs, which are administered intravenously. The Ringer solution by the British physiologist Sydney Ringer (1835-1910) and Frank Spiller Locke was developed ( 1871-1949 ).

Variants of the Ringer solution contained the Ringer 's lactate solution and Ringer acetate solution, in addition to a slightly different range of organic anions such as lactate electrolyte (anion of lactic acid) or acetate ( anion of acetic acid).

Ringer 's lactate solution releases by metabolism of lactate ions in the liver bicarbonate ions (HCO3-), which have a buffering effect on the pH of the blood. In the presence of a mild acidosis contributes Ringer 's lactate solution to stabilize the pH of the blood. However, results from the conversion process, a significant additional oxygen requirement of the body.

Is produced Ringer solution of sodium chloride, potassium chloride and calcium chloride by dissolving it in water for injection, the variants included depending on addition of sodium bicarbonate, sodium lactate or sodium acetate and magnesium chloride.
