Rini Coolen

Rini Coolen ( born February 10, 1967 in Arnhem) is a Dutch former football player and current coach. Since July 2010 he cared for in the Australian A-League team Adelaide United.

Playing career

Coolen began his career in 1985 at the then second division club Go Ahead Eagles. After he was able to prevail there, the defender moved in 1988 to League rival Heracles Almelo. By appealing services lent him for the following season De Graafschap. However, it managed Coolen not there in the team, so he returned again in 1990/91 to Almelo. He remained there until 1994. With the team he reached in 1991 and 1992 finished sixth and fourth place in 1994. In summer 1994, Coolen changed again to a league rival, AZ Alkmaar. In his last season as a professional, the club reached the first place in the First Division and was thus able to celebrate promotion to the Eredivisie.

Coaching career

Shortly after the end of his active career, he moved to Almelo Coolen again. There he was between 1996 and 1999 assistant, before he moved to FC Twente Enschede. There, the former defender in charge of the reserve team. For the season 2002/ 03 he ordered René Vandereycken in the first team, where Coolen was active as an assistant coach from now on. After Vander corners retired in 2004, his assistant took over the management. This was Coolens first head coach station. In the first year he reached with Twente fifth place in the Eredivisie. In the following season, the coach on 1 February 2006 was canceled. In summer 2006, it eventually moved him to AGOVV Apeldoorn in the second division. After the club was close to relegation, Coolen was released on 21 February 2007. Only in November de following year he found a new club and signed at RBC Roosendaal. However, the team only reached a disappointing 16th place in the First Division after the 2008/09 season.

On July 5, 2010 Coolen signed a contract with the Australian club Adelaide United. After a weak start to the 2011/12 season Coolen was relieved of his duties as head coach in December 2011 and will take care of the next-generation program of the club in the future.
