Rinpoche

Rinpoche (Tibetan རིན་པོ་ཆེ, Wylie: rin po che, Thdl: Rinpoche, transcription of the PRC: Rinboqê, IPA: [ rinpotʃe ] ) is a Tibetan honorific title that is usually used for a lama or other dignitaries of the Vajrayana. The word is composed of rin ( po), value ', and, che, size ', and therefore literally means " Precious " (cf. / rin chen po /, great value ', / rin chen / Rinchen ' ( proper name ) or, treasure '). The title is mainly for Trülkus (that is, recognized as the reincarnation of a former master people ) are common, but also abbots and teachers who have attained in this life special wisdom, this title may have been awarded.

The term " Guru Rinpoche " (, precious guru ') refers specifically to the yogi Padmasambhava from Kashmir, which at the official introduction of Buddhism in Tibet is of particular importance in the 8th century.
