Rio Arriba County is a county located in the north of the U.S. state of New Mexico with 40 246 inhabitants. The County is the Jicarilla Apache Indian Reservation. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Tierra Amarilla.

Geography

The County has a land area of ​​15,171 square miles and a water area of ​​99 square kilometers. The size is comparable with Thuringia. The county is bordered clockwise to the County: Taos County, Mora County, Santa Fe County, Los Alamos County, Sandoval County, San Juan County, Archuleta County ( Colorado) and Conejos County ( Colorado).
