Rio Branco ( German: White River ) is the capital and largest city of the Brazilian state of Acre.
Rio Branco was founded on 28 December 1882. In their lives, about half of the population, called Rio Branquense, Acres. The city is the most important starting point for tourists visiting the acre. The city is divided by the river Rio Acre in two halves, the first and the second district, and is named after the Rio Branco, which flows into the Rio Acre.
In the year 2006 58.531 vehicles were registered in the city and there appeared three newspapers.
