Rip Torn

Rip Torn ( born February 6, Elmore Rual Torn 1931 in Temple, Texas) is an American film actor.

Life

Torn graduated from an agricultural studies at the University of Texas. Mid-1950s, he appeared in small television roles. He had his film debut in 1956 in Elia Kazan's Baby Doll - Do not covet the other woman. After that, he took acting classes at the Actors Studio and dance classes with Martha Graham. Torn appeared on Broadway as Tom Finley Jr. in Sweet Bird of Youth and played the same role in the film adaptation of Richard Brooks from the year 1962. Among his most important character roles include the presentation of Henry Miller in Tropic of Cancer knits Joseph (1970 ) and its main role as a washed-up country singer in Daryl Duke's Payday (1973). For his role in Cross Creek (1983 ) Rip Torn was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor. One of his most famous roles was Agent Z in Men in Black. 1988 Rip Torn tried with the film The Telephone success as a director.

On 29 January 2010 Torn, in an attempt to break into a bank, was arrested. For this he was sentenced to a prison term of two and a half years, which is exposed on probation. In addition, he received three years probation. During this time, Torn irregular alcohol and drug testing must undergo.

Torn was from 1956 to 1961 to actress Ann Wedgeworth ( divorced) and married from 1963 until her death in 1987 with Geraldine Page. He has six children, a daughter from his first marriage, two sons and a daughter from his second marriage, and two daughters, Amy Wright, with whom he has been married since 1989. Torn is a cousin of Sissy Spacek.
