Riq

The riq (Arabic رق, DMG Riq, also Riqq ) is an Arabic tambourine, which belongs to the group of einfelligen frame drums.

The diameter of the drum is approximately 24 cm, height 6 cm. On the side of Riqs clamps are mounted, for example, in a 5 × 2 × 2 clamps.

Previously, the Riq was covered with fish skin, but today it takes usually goat skin for it.

The riq is used in Arab folk music, classical Arabic music and also to the accompaniment of oriental dance.
