Risk (English for " risk " ) is the eighth studio album by the American heavy metal band Megadeth. It was released in August 1999 on Capitol Records. The music on Risk can be defined as Heavy Metal with some influences from hard rock, about the quiet Breadline, Thrash - as Prince of Darkness - and industrial rock, such as at Crush 'Em, describe.
Formation
Before the recordings of Risk to bandleader Dave Mustaine separated by drummer Nick Menza end of 1998, to which the ratio was longer no longer intact, according to Menzas. Mustaine also called Menzas knee surgery, which had an effect on his drumming. So you have first Jimmy DeGrasso (formerly Suicidal Tendencies and Alice Cooper) for the current at that time obliged tour, which was then, as it was " not right forward," gone with Menza, firmly brought into the band. The first single Crush ' Em was explicitly written by wrestling fan Mustaine for stadium and sports events, where she was also widely used and is. The accompanying video was shot with actor Jean -Claude Van Damme and wrestler Bill Goldberg. It was also part of the soundtrack of Van Damme movie Universal Soldier - The Return. Other singles were Breadline and Insomnia. The title of the panel alludes to a statement from Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Megadeth would take more risks musically. Following the band played at the Woodstock Festival in 1999 and then in Europe as the opening act for Iron Maiden. End of the year rose from guitarist Marty Friedman, he was replaced by Al Pitrelli of Savatage. In summer 2000, the band toured with Anthrax and Mötley Crüe.

Reception
Some fans criticized Risk also met with the press on a different echo. Steve Huey of allmusic.com saw the album not too far away from the two predecessors and called the plate therefore named as wrong. Some songs are " better than others" and are enough to carry the album, if you let the style. He forgave two and a half stars out of five. In Rock Hard Boris Kaiser wrote: "Did you leave Risk only a few times bubbled through the ear canals to quite a few magical moments emerge. " Emperor awarded eight out of ten.
