Rita Barberá Nolla

Rita Barbera Nolla (* July 16, 1948 in Valencia) is a Spanish politician and mayor of Valencia.

Rita Barbera studied political science and economics at the University of Valencia and Journalism in Madrid. In the 1970s she worked as a journalist and participated in the founding of the Alianza Popular (now Partido Popular, Spanish People's Party) with. 1991 Barbera Mayoress of Valencia, and remained so for the next five elections ( 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 and most recently in 2011 ).

During her tenure, the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias was built, Valencia hosted the America's Cup since 2008 and a Formula 1 race at the new Valencia Street Circuit.
