Rita Montaner

Rita Montaner ( born August 20, 1900 in Havana, Cuba, † April 17, 1958 ibid ) was a Cuban singer and actress, ( The Unique ) became known as " La Unica " in Cuban music history, and internationally in its mix of African and Spanish influences was considered the representative of the " Cuban ".

Life

Rita Montaner completed her musical studies (piano, vocals and harmony) 1917. In the first radio broadcast of Cuba on October 10, 1922 her voice was the first of a woman in Cuban radio. International recognition they reached in 1928 with her ​​appearance at the Olympia in Paris. In 1956, she was diagnosed with throat cancer and on May 31, 1957 she gave her last public appearance.
