Rita Trapanese

Rita Trapanese ( born May 8, 1951 in Milan, † 8 August 2000 in Gattatico ) was an Italian figure skater who started in a single run.

Trapanese was from 1965 to 1972 Italian champion in figure skating ladies and is therefore national record holder. She took in the period 1966-1972 in all Europe championships. At the European Championships in Zurich in 1971, she won the bronze medal. It was the first medal for an Italian figure skater at the European Championships. They celebrated their biggest success in 1972 in Gothenburg when she was Vice - European Champion behind Beatrix Schuba. At the World Championships, where she participated four times, was her best result of fifth place they reached in 1971. Trapanese represented Italy at three Olympics. 1968 in Grenoble she finished in 25th place and Sapporo in 1972 they finished seventh.

Trapanese was married to Maurizio Vaglini, head of the Milan Cancer Institute. She died in a car accident.
