Rivarossi

Rivarossi is a model railway brand of the internationally active British producer Hornby model today.

History

The company was founded by Alessandro Rossi in 1945 in Italy. The suffix " Riva " in the brand is the surname of a member from the founding period, which, however, did not stay long in the company. Rivarossi produced railway models for track 0, H0 and N. Among other things, in the years around 1980 for the U.S. market the Westernlok GENOA produced ( as a locomotive for the " Western & Atlantic Railroad " for example ) on a scale HO.

It also produced models of tram vehicles and track elements in nominal size H0. The vehicles were models ( railcars and trailers ) of the so-called 2-axle Edison - type from Milan. The track elements with embedded in the pavement rails had a grid size of 20 x 20 cm, ie the turning radius was 10 cm. Were offered straight and curved tracks and switches (right and left) and a cross that were each equipped with green catenary masts made ​​of plastic and relatively thick contact wires. In Germany, the tram was also offered by TRIX.

1963 Rivarossi acquired shares in Pocher. Mid-1970s, took over the company Rivarossi Pocher completely.

In the 1990s Rivarossi acquired the brands Lima ( 1992), Jouef and Arnold (1997). 2003 Rivarossi was insolvent.

In 2004, Hornby Railways Plc acquired. Parts of Rivarossi, especially the brand name Arnold, Jouef, Rivarossi and Lima. Since 2006 Model Railway products are again under the name Arnold, Jouef, Rivarossi and Lima commercially available.

The development of the models was carried out first in England and Italy, since 2009 in Spain and partly in Italy and Germany. In addition to existing models, which come in a revised form to the market every year completely new track H0 models are developed since the restart of the brand.

Sales of brand models Rivarossi has its focus on Italy, Germany and the USA. Also models for sale in the Netherlands and Eastern Europe are manufactured.
