The Erne (Irish Abhainn na hÉirne, An Éirne ) is a river in the north- west of Ireland.

It rises in County Cavan in the Republic of Ireland, flowing through the County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland, again crossed the border with the Republic of Ireland and then flows near Ballyshannon in County Donegal in the Donegal Bay and thus into the Atlantic. In County Fermanagh she crosses it Lough Erne. The river is a total of about 120 kilometers long and very popular with trout anglers.

The Erne is connected to the River Shannon over the 60 kilometers of Shannon - Erne Waterway. The actual planning supervision and management holds the intergovernmental Irish- Northern Irish authority Waterways Ireland.
