The Ouse in York

The Ouse [u ː z] (derived from the Celtic word for " water") is a river in Yorkshire, England.

The name of the river Ure changes about 9 kilometers below the confluence of the Swale in Ouse ( at Linton-on - Ouse, 20 miles north- west of York). The Ouse flows alternately in southern and eastern directions, first by York, Selby and Goole happened later and flows together with the Trent in the open North Sea to the Humber estuary. Important tributaries Foss, Wharfe, Aire, Derwent and Don, whose catchment areas lie mainly in the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales.
