The River Stour River system is located in Kent in southeast England.

In Ashford, the Upper Great Stour, East Stour, the Whitewater Dyke and Dyke Ruck to the Great Stour unite. The Great Stour flows through the city of Canterbury. Further east, he unites with the Little Stour, before reaching the former Wantsum Channel, which used to be the Isle of Thanet from the mainland section. After a big loop south to Sandwich, which is cut off by the former Richborough Port 1775-1776 by ​​the artificial Stonar Cut, joins the Stour in the Pegwell Bay in the Strait of Dover.

Prior to his gradual silting up of the Stour was the access to the ports of Sandwich and Canterbury, and in the First World War, the secret military port of Richborough Port was north of Sandwich created on Stour.

The river was also known for the water mills exploiting its hydropower. Many buildings are still preserved, but few mills are still in operation.
