The Wharfe (English: River Wharfe ) is a river in the British county of Yorkshire. The name comes from the Celtic word meaning " wound ". His river goddess said to have been worshiped by the Lingones Verbeia.
Run
On a large part of its course the Wharfe forms the border between the counties of West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire.
The valley of the River Wharfe is known as Wharfedale. Its source is located at Langstrothdale Chase in Yorkshire Dales National Park. From there it flows through Kettlewell, Grassington, Bolton Abbey, Addingham, Ilkley, Otley, Wetherby, Tadcaster and then leads after 97 km run at Cawood in the River Ouse.
