Rixe

Rixe was a bicycle, moped and motorcycle factory in the district of the East Westphalian city of Bielefeld the Brake.

History

The company was founded in 1922. Since the 1950s Rixe used mostly motors of the Fichtel & Sachs works with displacements of 47 cc and 98 cc, which were known for their durability and reliability. At the time of the motorcycle boom in the 1950s, also motorcycles of 100-250 cc with engines from Sachs and ILO were produced. The most powerful version was the RS 250 Senator, equipped with a 250 - cc -ILO -2- cylinder engine with approximately 18 hp ( 1956-1957 ). In addition, mopeds ( Rixe RS 50K/1960-61, Derby C/1962-67, Derby d/1965-75, RS 50S/1976-78 ) and the light motorcycle RS 80 SW 80 cc were produced. In contrast to the case of mopeds these but sold only in small numbers.

The history of the company ended 1985. After the vacation, the management announced on January 4, 1985 bankruptcy. The production facilities were sold in the People's Republic of China. The brand is now being used by the bicycle manufacturer Derby Cycle Werke from Cloppenburg.

Products

Rixe presented in 1951 her numerous mopeds, which were very similar at first bicycles with auxiliary motor. 1965 began production of mopeds. The most successful models were called Dragonfly, Tourismo and 1974 High - sports. Available were the mopeds in different versions with suspension, automatic or 2 - or 3- speed manual transmission.
