RK Pelister

The RK Pelister Bitola is a Macedonian handball club. The club belongs to RK and RK Metalurg Skopje Vardar Skopje at the strongest teams of Macedonia.

History

The RK Pelister Bitola is a handball team from Bitola, Macedonia, and was founded in 1946 under the name Pelagonia; he became the first Macedonian handball team. The club has been the most successful Macedonian team in the 1990s, when it regularly qualified by five titles in the national championships for European competitions. Pelister has been played five times in the EHF Champions League, twice in the EHF Cup and the EHF Challenge Cup. The RK Pelister Bitola is the only Macedonian men's handball team that has played in the European Cup final. From the season 1983/1984 started Pelister with the regular participation in the Yugoslav First League. In the season 1987/1988 the team reached the quarter-finals for the first time the EHF Cup, but dropped out after that.
