RK Vardar

Rakometniot club Vardar ( РК Вардар ) is a handball club from the Macedonian city of Skopje. The club is the most successful country in the men's handball and besides RK Pelister Bitola and local rivals RK Metalurg Skopje one of the three top clubs. In the 2011/12 season Vardar attends the neugründeten SEHA League and only rises in the play-off phase in the domestic league.

History

RK Vardar was founded in 1961 as the handball section of the existing since 1947 mother association. After just a few seasons in the highest Yugoslav league, the club won after the independence of Macedonia in importance. Vardar has eight titles of the giants of the country. Internationally, the club reached the semi-finals three times in the European Cup Winners' Cup.
