RKWard

Rkward is a graphical user interface ( GUI) for GNU R, a free software package with a strong focus on statistic functions. Rkward tried the strengths of R to connect with a user- friendly interface, as in commercial statistical software such as is common in SPSS.

Although originally developed for the KDE user interface under GNU / Linux, rkward can also on Windows, Mac OS X and other user interfaces such as GNOME be used.

Rkward contains a console in which the R syntax can be executed directly, a number of menu functions. This includes a file browser to the data management easier, a variable view, a table window of the loaded data, etc. Additionally, it provides a code editor that developing their own R scripts, among others supported by syntax highlighting, code folding and autocomplete.

From the main menu, some standard applications of descriptive, exploratory and analytical statistics of GNU R can be executed directly. Likewise, graphics and outputs can be produced, adapted and displayed on its own windows and menus.

Rkward also offers a package management, downloaded from all available packages of the R development community, can be installed and configured.

The software can be extended by plugins to provide additional dialogues. A rkward plugin consists of simple XML and ECMAScript / JavaScript files. Since version 0.5.7 it is possible to install the plugins in the form of R packages.
