The Cesta I. triedy 50 ( for Slovak, street 1st order 50 '), short I/50, is a street 1st order in Slovakia. It is equipped with more than 400 kilometers, the longest street in this category in Slovakia and crosses the country from north-west to the east. Larger cities that are transit or tangent to the road Trenčín, Prievidza, Zvolen, Rimavská Sobota, Košice and Michalovce. More or less it is part of the European Routes 50, 58, 71, 77, 571 and 572

Course

Trenčín Region

The I/50 begins at the former border crossing Drietoma - Stary Hrozenkov in the White Carpathian Mountains on the border with the Czech Republic. They crossed the river Vah and tangent to the town Trenčín, before they crossed the Inowetz and enters the more Neutratal. After the cities Bánovce nad Bebravou and Nováky it passes through the historic Hauerland, the cities Prievidza and Handlová over before it kraj in the bird leaves the mountains of Trenčín.

Banskobystrický kraj

In Banskobystrický kraj it passes first through the Pohronie; shortly after Žiar nad Hronom it has a 15 km long route together with the R1 expressway; behind Zvolen, where it meets the north-south route E77, the I/50 is back on its own line. By Slatinatal and edge of Veporer Mountains (part of the Slovak Ore Mountains ) it comes in the long southern Slovakia boiler at Lučenec. In Ožďany it passes through two switchbacks, tangent to the Rimavská Sobota and the leaves Banskobystrický kraj at Tornaľa.

Košice kraj

The road then goes through the Slanátal and touches the Slovak karst with numerous caves; the mountain is also a National Park. In Rožňava she leaves the river valley and crossed a pass in the Slovak Karst also before it passes through the populous Kaschauer boiler. At the beginning of Košice, it affects the large U.S. Steel steel plant; in the city itself, it forms a part of the urban ring road. After leaving both the city and the boiler it crosses the Slanské Hills over the Dargovpass; it is they end up in the mostly flat East Slovak Lowland. At the last major city Michalovce is the recreation area Zemplínska šírava, a reservoir, and further east the volcanic mountains Vihorlat shortly. In Vyšné Nemecké, just before it crosses the Ukrainian Uzhhorod Slovak- Ukrainian border, which is also the external border of the Schengen area.

Expansion condition and replacement

The road has been little developed. Apart from the common path with the R1 -lane routes are: between Nováky and Prievidza (9 km; proportion of future R2 ), 3 km near Zvolen and 17 km in Košice.

In the future, the road to the expressway R2 ( Trenčín to Kosice ) and Highway D1 ( from Kosice to the Ukrainian border ); so far ( 2013) only two sections have been built, namely the bypasses of Ožďany ( 6 km), Figa and Tornaľa ( 14 km). In construction of the bypass Žiar nad Hronom (5,7 km) and the section Pstruša - Kriváň are (10,4 km).
