Roan is a municipality in the central Norwegian administrative district (county ) Sør -Trøndelag. It is located on the peninsula Fosen on the coast of the North Sea. In addition to the eponymous administrative seat Roan it includes several small villages along the coast, as in the hinterland, including Straum, Hofstad and Bessaker.

Economy

The main economic activities are agriculture, fishing and crab catching.

Between summer 2007 and summer 2008, construction near the village Bessaker Norway's second largest wind farm " Bessakerfjellet Vindpark " on the same ridge. A total of 25 wind turbines with a total of 57.5 MW will be built for the Trondheim utilities TrønderEnergi by the German Enercon GmbH.
