Roanoke Valley Vipers

The Roanoke Valley Vipers were an American ice hockey team from Roanoke, Virginia. The team played in the 2005/06 season in the United Hockey League.

History

The franchise of the Port Huron Beacons of the United Hockey League was founded in 2005 from Port Huron, Michigan, to Roanoke, Virginia, relocated and renamed the Roanoke Valley Vipers. They filled the gap that was created a year earlier by the resolution of the Roanoke Express of the ECHL in the city.

In her only season the Vipers only reach 17 wins in 76 games and a total of 40 points. Thus they finished cut off the last place of the Eastern Division. As the club owner had to accept beyond financial losses at an average attendance of about 1,000 at a capacity of Roanoke Civic Center of 9,000 seats, the franchise was disbanded in 2006.
