Already for the following season he moved to the youth department of the former Eredivisie club Sparta Rotterdam. But already in the following year he moved to league rivals ADO Den Haag, where Baan acted as an assistant to Ernst Happel ( 1966-1969 ) and Vaclav Jezek ( 1969-1972 ) 1966-1972. In the summer of 1972, he was first set as head coach and signed at VVV Venlo. There he accomplished in 1976 the rise of the Eerste Divisie in the Eredivisie, where he held the class until 1978, but was subsequently replaced by Hans Croon. Then it took January Zwartkruis the Dutch national team. When his assistant coach Baan worked with Zwartkruis to 1981, before it was replaced by Kees Rijvers. Under him Baan worked until 1983 and worked in between as interim coach for the Oranje. In 1978, he managed the team at the World Cup two years later at the European Championships in Italy. At the World Cup team in 1980 failed only in the final to Argentina, in the preliminary round. ADO Den Haag, for which he was already active as an assistant coach to Baan services for the 1983/84 season secured. After three years in the second division, he finally succeeded in 1986 to climb to the top flight. Despite this success the coach left the club and joined Roda JC Kerkrade on. Despite a good fourth place and the associated best placement for years, this commitment has already been terminated again after one year. So lured him Sparta Rotterdam back in his hometown, who hired the football coach. However, two twelfth places were the club not good enough and they went their separate ways in 1990. Baan Then changed again in the Eerste Divisie longer wore the colors of the SC Cambuur - Leeuwarden. 1991/92, the team earned the first place and Baan celebrated his third ascent to the third team. But as already in The Hague, he did not stay this time against newly promoted, but ventured to FC Twente Enschede. He twice reached the fifth place and established the team in the top flight of the Eredivisie. This was the Board but not sufficient and the season 1994/95 he moved to Baan Excelsior Rotterdam. Then there are the in-game achievements to the Johan Cruyff Schaal 1996, 1997 and 1998. 1998 drew Baan for six years as sports director at Feyenoord Rotterdam. In his first year with the Red and Whites the Eredivisie and the Supercup was won. Until his club further national success came from though. Probably the greatest triumph in this time, Baan celebrated on May 8, 2002, when in the final of the UEFA Cup Borussia Dortmund beat his team 3-2. After all these titles winning and working in the Netherlands, it attracted Baan in 2004 for the first time abroad. The Arabian club Al- Jazira Club lured him into the oriental culture room, where he was working as sports director again. After only twelve months, both parties separated again and Baan has been set for the second time after 1978 by the Royal Dutch Football Association. There he directed for a year as a youth sports director the fortunes at youth level. After the separation took place a renewed commitment at ADO Den Haag. This was but of short duration and January 1, 2007 Baan tried again as head coach of the Australian under 23, but had at the same time, the sporting director post of the A- Team held.
