Rob Bishop

Robert William " Rob" Bishop ( born July 13, 1951 in Kaysville, Davis County, Utah ) is an American politician of the Republican Party. He represents the state of Utah since 2003 in the U.S. House of Representatives.

After graduating from Davis High School was Rob Bishop from 1970 to 1972 as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ( Mormons) used in Germany. After his return to the U.S., he studied political science at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor. He then worked from 1974 to 1980 as a teacher of Civic Education at a high school in Brigham City, then later as a German teacher in Ogden.

His first political office was Bishop from 1979 to 1995 as a Member of the House of Representatives from Utah held. He was leader of the Republican ( Majority Leader ) and from 1992 to 1994 the Speaker of the Parliament chamber. In 1997 he was elected for two years as chairman of his party in Utah. He was for a time as a lobbyist in Washington; after his departure from the State Parliament, he returned to the High School of Brigham City, where he headed the Department of History.

In 2002, Bishop was first elected to Congress. Since then he has been confirmed three times in office, with its share of the vote was always over 60 percent. Most recently, he won in 2008 with 64.9 percent of the vote to Democrat Morgan Bowen. In Parliament, he is one of the founders of Western State Coalition, which campaigns for more rights of the states. As a teacher, he takes special care education policy issues. He voted against the No Child Left Behind Act.

Bishop is a member of several committees; of the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public reason he acts as the highest-ranking Republican.
