Rob Gibson

Rob Gibson ( born October 10, 1945 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party ( SNP).

Gibson attended the High School of Glasgow and studied Modern History at the University of Dundee and graduated with a Master with authorization to teach from. He continued his education at Dundee College of Education and then worked as a teacher in Alness and Invergordon.

Political career

1966 Gibson joined the SNP and was later elected in the Council of Ross and Cromarty. At the general election in February 1974 for the first time he stepped on to the national elections in the constituency of Inverness, but could not win the direct mandate. In the constituency, Ross, Cromarty and Skye Gibson candidate in the general election in 1987 and 1992, but missed in two cases the collection in the British House of Commons.

In the parliamentary elections in 2003 Gibson was a candidate in the constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, the direct mandate missed but clear. Since he was also placed on the regional election list of polling Highlands and Islands, Gibson received as a result of the election results is one of seven list mandates of the constituency and moved into the Scottish Parliament. 2007 Gibson defeated despite significant gains voice again Jamie Stone in the constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross, but defended its mandate for the constituency. As part of the constituency reform of 2011, the constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross was dissolved and largely incorporated into the new constituency of Caithness, Sutherland and Ross. Jamie Stone did not start on the parliamentary elections in 2011 and Gibson was the first time to achieve the direct mandate of the newly created constituency.
