Rob Roy Way

The Rob Roy Way is a long distance hiking trail in the Scottish Highlands.

It starts at Drymen and runs in a north -westerly direction to Pitlochry. At its starting point it crosses the famous West Highland Way. The length of the path varies with some alternative routes 127-148 km. The trailhead is just north of Glasgow still in the Lowlands. On the first day you cross the Highland boundary. The path runs through well populated area and is also suitable for the inexperienced hikers.

Accommodation and catering

The path is sufficiently developed for backpackers. There is an accommodation and in many places, a camping site at each milestone. Along the way there are plenty of shopping opportunities not only in every major city.

History

The trail is named after Robert Roy MacGregor (Rob Roy ), who became with extortion and a feud with the Duke of Montrose as a national hero. The path is an invention of the book publishing, brings out also the guide of the same name.
