Rob Thomas (musician)

Robert Kelly " Rob" Thomas ( born February 14, 1972 in Landstuhl, Germany ) is an American musician, best known as the lead singer of the rock band matchbox twenty at the end of the 1990s.

Biography

Thomas was born on the U.S. military base Landstuhl. At age 13, he already wanted to be a musician. The first concert he attended was of Genesis during the Invisible Touch tour. His greatest musical influence is Steve Burry.

He played before his time with matchbox twenty in the band Tabitha 's Secret with Brian Yale and Paul Doucette.

Initial success as a solo artist, he celebrated in 1999 with the single Smooth duet with Carlos Santana, which reached number one on the U.S. Billboard charts.

In 2001 he was accepted as far youngest artist in the South Carolina Music and Entertainemt Hall of Fame, and in June 2004 he was the first of the newly founded "Starlight Award" by the Songwriters Hall of Fame, which honors young composers who already impress contemporary music in their early years, their mark and left a lasting impression in the music industry.

In April 2005, the debut album Something to Be, which was awarded in the United States with platinum appeared. The first single was Lonely No More. In addition, among other things, a duet with John Mayer is included.

He is married to Marisol Maldonado since 1999 and has a son named Maison Avery from a previous relationship. He lives near New York.

In June 2007, the single Little Wonders, which is on the soundtrack to the Disney movie Meet the Robinsons contain appeared. In Germany, the single debuted at position 33 and reached number 21 in between mid-August even times after 14 weeks Chart presence Place 20

The second solo album Cradlesong was published in June 2009 and contains 14 songs. The first single is called Her Diamonds.
