Robbie Findley

Robert " Robbie" Findley (* August 4, 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona ) is an American soccer player who is active for Real Salt Lake since 2013.

Club career

Youth and College

Robbie Findley attended Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona and played for the local school team. He was appointed selection to the First Team All-State in 2002 and 2003. Findley also set up a new school record by scoring 27 goals in a season. In addition, he played for the Sereno Golden Eagles. With the team he won eight times the state championship of Arizona, four times the Region IV Championships and reached the finals of the Dallas Cup. During his college days at Oregon State University Oregon State played for the Beavers. He also played for the Boulder Rapids Reserve in the USL Premier Development League.

Professional career

Los Angeles Galaxy

Findley was selected by Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS SuperDraft 2007. On April 8, 2007 the played its first game in Major League Soccer. He came off the bench in the game against Houston Dynamo in the 60th minute for Cobi Jones. Four days later he scored his first goal for Galaxy after he was back in to replace Jones.

Real Salt Lake

On 21 June 2007 he was traded along with midfielder Nathan Sturgis vs. Chris Klein from Real Salt Lake. In his first game for Salt Lake, he scored two goals and the team was able to achieve the first victory in the MLS season in 2007. In 16 games for RSL he was the top scorer ( six goals) of the team. In the following MLS Season 2008 Findley scored six goals again and thus became the second top scorer of the club. Real Salt Lake came in this season for the first time in the play-offs, where you failed at New York Red Bulls until the semi-finals.

In January 2009, he completed a trial at Danish club Brøndby IF. Another obligation of the player but did not materialize, although he scored two goals in the friendlies for Brøndby. He returned to Real Salt Lake and played his best season as a pro. In the Major League Soccer 2009 he came to 12 league goals. On 2 April 2009, he scored even a hat-trick. Were crowned his good performance by winning the MLS Cup against Los Angeles Galaxy.

At the end of the Major League Soccer in 2010, his contract ran out at Real Salt Lake. He admitted to want to announce like to play in Europe. In MLS Expansion Draft 2010, he was drafted by the Portland Timbers.

Nottingham Forest

Mid-December 2010, he completed a trial with English first division club Wolverhampton Wanderers, but changed on 23 December at Nottingham Forest in the Football League Championship. Shortly after his commitment, Findley injured in training and came just before the end of season in the Football League Championship 2010/11 on his first two missions.

On September 21, 2012 Findley moved on loan to the fourth division FC Gillingham.

National

Findely has the American citizenship and of Trinidad and Tobago. His parents are from the Caribbean country, but emigrated to the United States.

On 9 October 2007 he was appointed to the national team of the United States. He made 17 October 2009 against Switzerland, his first international match. Findley came on in the 90th minute.

In August 2009, he was part of the U.S. national team in the World Cup 2010 qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad and Tobago. But he was not on the pitch in both games.

On May 26, was appointed by Bob Bradley in the final squad for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, where he made his World Cup debut on June 12 against England. Due to two yellow cards, he was in the final group game against Algeria locked. In the second-round match against Ghana, which the U.S. lost 2-1 after extra time, he was replaced at half-time.

Private

Findley is a cousin of NBA point guards Mike Bibby and NFL wide receiver Shaun McDonald. He is also related to the basketball player Eddie House, because it is married to Findley's cousin.
