Robbie McIntosh

Robbie McIntosh ( born October 25, 1957 in Sutton (formerly Surrey now London) ) is a British rock guitarist, known primarily for his work with The Pretenders.

Life

Already with 10 years, he started on the guitar, the respective parts of different rock recordings replay, and at age 13 he took lessons for classical guitar. Many of the bands that he then heard later influenced his way of playing, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, the Kinks and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Thanks to his father, he also got to listen to jazz, for example, Django Reinhardt.

After his first band, 70 % proof, he joined the Foster Brothers in 1977, until their separation a year later. After that he worked as a truck driver and returned to the music back. A few months later, he received an offer from Chris Thompson to play lead guitar in a band called Filthy McNasty. He said and pulled the band in November 1978 to Los Angeles to Richard Perry to help with some studio recordings. After a name change to Night the band toured in 1979 with the Doobie Brothers. 1988 McIntosh worked mostly as a session musician. He also got to know Paul McCartney, whose backing he joined a short time later. Until 1993, he played on two world tours, two studio and three live albums McCartney and Linda McCartney's solo album on Wide Prairie.

After that, he worked first as a session musician again until he formed his own band in 1998. Together with Paul Beavis, Pino Palladino, Mark Feltham and Melvin Duffy was so Robbie McIntosh band and their debut album Emotional Bends.

In the years 2004 and 2005, Robbie McIntosh was a member of Norah Jones band, before he toured from 2006 with singer / songwriter John Mayer and recorded with this together, the EP The Village Sessions. He is also active as a session musician for various artists.

Robbie McIntosh has four children and lives with his wife in Dorset.
