Robbie Robertson

Jaime Robbie Robertson ( born July 5, 1943 in Toronto, Ontario ) is a Canadian rock musician ( guitarist, singer and songwriter ). He is best known as a member of The Band, who accompanied Bob Dylan mid-1960s.

Biography & Career

Robertson, son of a Jew and a Mohawk Indian, learned to play the guitar play early. By the late 1950s he played in various bands in Toronto and the surrounding area with. In 1960 he joined the band The Hawks led by singer Ronnie Hawkins.

When Hawkins left the group in 1963, they initially called Canadian Esquires and Levon and the Hawks, until they finally took the name The Band.

Bob Dylan took the band from 1965 to 1966 as his backing band under contract after he first appeared at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 with " electric " accompaniment.

The value written by Robertson entitled The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is one of the most famous songs of the Canadian-American rock group The Band. He first appeared in 1969 on the album The Band, but was never released as a single. Folk singer Joan Baez ended in 1971 with a cover version of their first and only U.S. Top Ten hit. In German-speaking countries the melody was mainly due to the number -one hit on the day, as Conny Kramer died of Juliane Werding known from the year 1972.

In 1968, the album Music from Big Pink, which made the band one of the most famous American rock bands. Robertson wrote most of the songs and was considered their leader head.

The song Money Chat ( 2013) is sung in the movie " Wolf of Wall Street " in a restaurant scene with Leonardo de Caprio and Matthew McConaugey of the two actors. It can also be heard in the outro of the film.
