Cléopâtre is a silent short film by French film pioneer Georges Méliès about a revival of the mummy of Cleopatra. The film premiered in 1899 is one of the earliest horror films. He was long considered lost, but was found in 2005 in France a copy. The AFP news agency described the two -minute-long film as " groundbreaking early classics of cinema history. " Cleopatra is portrayed by actress Jeanne d' Alcy.

Action

The film has not yet been re-listed and its action is represented slightly differently in the sources available. After a scenario of Méliès the plot is that after a dance of priestesses to Cleopatra's grave two men appear to desecrate the grave and put the mummy of Cleopatra in flames, where Cleopatra emerges alive and angry. According to other sources, a man cuts diabolical appearance of the mummy of Cleopatra in pieces to restore then by magic and to bring to life.
