Robert Adair (politician)

Sir Robert Adair ( pron. äddehr ) ( born May 24, 1763October 3, 1855 in London ) was an English diplomat.

Life

Robert Adair, relatives and party member of the politician Charles James Fox studied at the Universities of Westminster and Göttingen. At the outbreak of the French Revolution, Adair long time held on the continent, notably in Russia, and was elected in 1802 after his return to England in parliament and in 1806 sent by Fox as ambassador to the court of Vienna.

From 1808 to 1811 he was ambassador in Constantinople Opel where he completed on January 5, 1809 by order of King George with the Sublime Porte the Dardanellenfrieden. In 1831 he went as ambassador to Brussels and worked very beneficial for the new Kingdom of Belgium. About his work as a diplomat reported in some books.

Robert Adair died at the age of 92 years as a member of the Privy Council on 3 October 1855 in London.
