Robert Armbruster

John Robert Armbruster ( born October 9, 1896 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † June 20, 1994 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American composer, conductor and arranger.

Life

John Robert Armbruster began performing as a concert pianist at the age of eight years. After graduating from West Philadelphia High School, he studied music with Constantin von Sternberg. He then moved to California, where he founded the " Robert Armbruster Orchestra" and played on NBC radio shows such as the " Chase & Sanborn Hour" in the background. A few years later he began to compose film music for MGM, where he was often engaged as a spare and for the additional music, which he has not often mentioned in the credits. His greatest success was in 1965 an Oscar nomination for Best Original Score of gold miners Molly.
