Robert Axelrod

Robert Axelrod ( born May 27, 1943) is an American political scientist. He is considered one of the most important representatives of the rational choice theory ( rational choice theory ).

Life

Robert Axelrod has a degree in mathematics (1964 ) and received his PhD in 1969 in political science at Yale University. He worked on the Planning Committee of Defense of the United States, and at times at the RAND Corporation. Axelrod has taught at the Universities of Berkeley and Michigan. He has been active in policy advice, including the United Nations, the World Bank and the Pentagon. He has become particularly well known for its interdisciplinary conflict analysis. Axelrod introduced the method of cognitive mapping in political science to capture the Kausalstrukuren political worldviews.

In 1987 he was MacArthur Fellow. In 2013 he was awarded the Skytteanische price.
