Robert B. F. Peirce

Robert Bruce Fraser Peirce ( born February 17, 1843 in Laurel, Franklin County, Indiana, † December 5, 1898 in Indianapolis, Indiana ) was an American politician. Between 1881 and 1883 he represented the State of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Robert Peirce attended the public schools of his home. At times he was but also teaches privately. During the Civil War he was a lieutenant in a volunteer unit from Indiana. He later continued his education at Wabash College in Crawfordsville continued. After a subsequent study of law in Shelbyville and its made ​​in 1866 admitted to the bar he began in 1867 to work in Crawfordsville in this profession. In the years 1868, 1870 and 1872, he was elected district attorney in Montgomery County.

Politically, Peirce member of the Republican Party. In the congressional elections of 1880 he was in the eighth election district of Indiana in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Abraham J. Hostetler on March 4, 1881. Since he has not been confirmed in 1882, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1883. After his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives Peirce again practiced as a lawyer. Later he was a trustee of the railway company Toledo, St. Louis & Western Railway. Robert Peirce died on December 5, 1898 in Indianapolis, and was buried in Crawfordsville.
