Robert Badham

Robert Edward Badham ( born June 9, 1929 in Los Angeles, California, † October 21, 2005 in Newport Beach, California ) was an American politician. Between 1977 and 1989 he represented the state of California in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Robert Badham attended the public schools in Beverly Hills. In 1947 he graduated from the local high school. Then he studied until 1948 at Occidental College in Eagle Rock. This was followed up in 1951 to study at Stanford University. Between 1951 and 1954 he served during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He then worked as a private businessman. Until 1969 he was a director of the company Hoffman Hardware Co. in Los Angeles. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. From 1963 to 1976 he sat as a deputy in the California State Assembly. Since 1962 to 1976 he participated in all regional party conferences in California; 1964-1984 he attended as a delegate all Republican National Conventions.

In the congressional elections of 1976, Badham was in the 40th electoral district of California in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Andrew J. Hinshaw on January 3, 1977. After five re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1989 six legislative periods. In 1988 he gave up another candidacy. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Robert Badham retired from politics. He died on 21 October 2005 in Long Beach.
