Robert Bassler

Robert S. Bassler ( born September 26, 1903 in Washington, DC; † November 8, 1975 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles ) was an American editor and film producer.

Life

Robert Bassler, who in his hometown of Washington DC the Central High School attended, began in 1928 as an editor his film career in Hollywood. First working at Paramount Pictures, where he was responsible among other things for the cut of the amours of an actress ( Loves of an Actress, 1928) with Pola Negri, he moved in 1934 to the Fox Film Corporation. For the first time as a producer, he served in 1942 at 20th Century Fox for the film musical The Queen of Broadway ( My Gal Sal) with Rita Hayworth and Victor Mature in the lead roles. In 1949 he was nominated for the Drama The Snake Pit ( The Snake Pit ) along with Anatole Litvak Best for an Oscar in the category of film. From 1958 he also worked for the U.S. television, in 1960 before he retired from show business. He died in 1975 at the age of 72 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.
