Robert Bathurst

Robert Guy Bathurst ( born February 22, 1957, the Gold Coast, British West Africa ) is a British actor.

Life and achievements

Bathurst was (now Ghana) was born in 1957 in the former colony of the Gold Coast, the son of Philip and Gillian Bathurst, where his father worked as a management consultant. He has two other siblings. 1959 the family moved to Dublin, Ireland, where Bathurst and his brother went to a church boarding school. 1966 the family moved to England, where Bathurst attended Worth School in West Sussex and there gained his first acting experiences. At the age of 18 he studied at the University of Cambridge and also became a member of the theater group Footlights, which also included other well-known personalities acting like Hugh Laurie and Emma Thompson.

After graduating from the university he was working full-time as an actor and went with the Footlights for a year in Australia on tour. His first performance outside the group, he had in a speaker role in BBC Radio 4 he had his first television role in 1982 in the pilot episode of Blackadder as Prince Harry. His debut as a real theater actor he had in 1983 in the play Noises Off by Michael Frayn, which was performed at the Savoy Theatre. After that, he was a year an active performer of the theater and was next also active at BBC East as moderator. In 1984, he appeared in the play Saint Joan in the National Theatre.

Bathurst was in 1986 by Roger Moore, a candidate for the role of the new James Bond in The Living Daylights, but could not prevail against Timothy Dalton, who last won the role. Therefore, he continued his work as a television actor and has performed in accordance with 1987 in the series Red Dwarf. Bathurst has been married since 1985 and has four children.
