Robert Charles Moon

Robert Charles Moon (* 1844 in Brighton, † 1914 in the U.S. ) was an ophthalmologist in Britain and the United States. He was the son of William Moon (1818-1894), inventor of the Moon alphabet, an embossed paper in relief for the blind.

His career choice for ophthalmology was influenced by his experiences during adolescence when he had helped his father in the translation and transcription of grapes for the visually impaired. From 1866 to 1878 he worked on the 1857 by John Zachariah Laurence founded Eye Hospital in London. According to Dr. Laurence and he was named among other things, the Laurence -Moon - Bardet -Biedl syndrome, a combination of retinitis pigmentosa with some other symptoms. 1879 emigrated Moon to the USA, where he continued to practice in Philadelphia as an ophthalmologist.
