Robert Dahlgren

Robert Dahlgren ( born December 1, 1979 in Skellefteå ) is a Swedish racing driver. He was active from 2004 to 2010 in the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC ), where he was runner-up three times (2004, 2007, 2010 ). In 2010 he won the Scandinavian Tourenwagencup. From 2008 to 2011 he participated in the World Touring Car Championship ( WTCC).

Career

Dahlgren began his motorsport career in karting in 1989 and was active until 1996 in this sport. In 1997 he moved to Formula racing and finished fourth in the Swedish Formula Ford 1998 won the racers the championship title of the Swedish, Scandinavian and Nordic Formula Ford 1999 joined the Swede for the first time in the British Formula Ford. With three victories, he ended his debut season in seventh place overall. The following season he succeeded once again win three races and he finished fourth in the drivers' standings, while his teammate James Courtney won the championship. In his third season in the British Formula Ford Dahlgren won two races and decided with 257 to 254 points, the championship title against Patrick Long for themselves.

In 2002, Dahlgren in the British Formula 3 Championship. He participated in two race weekends in the championship, finishing in 17th place overall. He also appeared in 15 races in the national championship, where he finished fifth overall with four scoring victories. 2003 denied the Swede as teammate Will Power his second season in the British Formula 3 Championship. Both racers succeeded each a race to decide for themselves. At the end of power chose the team-internal duel with 103 to 102 points just for themselves and Dahlgren finished the season in ninth place in the championship standings.

2004 left Dahlgren formula racing and moved to touring car racing. He started in a Volvo S60 in the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC ). With three wins from 18 races he was in his first season runner-up behind Richard Göransson. After he had become in his second season with a win seventh, he moved in 2006 to the team Polestar Racing. With a win, he was in this year fifth in the championship. 2007 Dahlgren was with two wins for the second time - this time behind Fredrik Ekblom - Vice- champion of the STCC. He also appeared in the Swedish Anderstorp race weekend of the World Touring Car Championship ( WTCC). Since his Volvo S60 was homologated for the STCC, he joined as a guest starter and did not go into the standings. An eighth place was his best result.

2008 Dahlgren moved his vehicle and approached with a Volvo C30. He was with two wins fifth in the STCC. The following season, he finished with four wins seventh place in the drivers' standings. He also participated in two seasons, depending on a race weekend of the WTCC as a guest. In 2010 he was defeated in the STCC again Göransson in the title duel and was with 249 to 251 points for the third time runner-up. He was more successful in the Scandinavian Tourenwagencup, where he won the championship title. In the WTCC, the Swede took this season as a guest part in two race weekends. A fifth place in Mimasaka was his best finish.

2011 Dahlgren denied for Polestar Racing in the Volvo C30 first complete season in the WTCC. With his missions Volvo wanted to determine whether a factory mutual commitment would be worthwhile. At the end of the season, he finished with a fourth place as best finish in eleventh place overall.
